About Me

Photo of me

Hi. I’m Rob, a software engineer living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I currently work for Warner Bros. Discovery on their Max (formerly HBO Max) streaming service.

I grew up in New Jersey and went to Penn State University where I got my degree in Computer Science. After school I went to work in New York City for a year, but eventually found my way to Philadelphia and I’ve been here ever since.

Besides coding, I also enjoy photography, building Lego, tinkering with electronics and home automation. I recently started using a drone to take photos as well.

I have a wife, son, three cats and a dog.

You can reach me at rbender@gmail.com.

Other Mildly Amusing Tidbits…

I once had a cat who that I would walk on a leash.

I got interested in the history of a wreck of a World War I concrete ship partially submerged off the coast of Cape May, NJ. That led to me creating the website ConcreteShips.org and I was once interviewed on the TV show “Weird US” on the History Channel about them.

In eighth grade I was on the New Jersey State Latin Team and competed in the national championships (where we got our butts kicked).

I had a web page “The Shrine to Don Knotts” that Yahoo! (remember them?) made one of their Picks of the Week back in 1997.
